Having the chance to introduce very young musicians to Classical Persian Music through my performance at Lorton Station Elementary School’s orchestra concert was an honor and a big pleasure for me. The 4th grade orchestra members had only started playing music at the beginning of the school year, but had made much progress to be able to perform a concert in such a short period of time. When I was given this opportunity through Mr. Shabahang to play Tar for the 4th grade orchestra, I marveled at the thought of being able to make an impact on their impressionable minds. I myself began playing the violin at the age of four, but started instruction in Classical Persian Music in my teenage years as I gained a wider interest in music. My intention of performing for the orchestra was thus not only to introduce them to Classical Persian Music, but to also help broaden their musical horizons and pique their interest in the vast world of music. I personally believe that music has been an integral aspect of human culture for thousands of years and am proud to have taken the opportunity to present the music and instruments of Iran to the next generation of musicians who will embrace and define it for years to come.

Thank you so much for having Sohrab Hajarian come to our school in Lorton, VA!  He played beautifully, and the students were thrilled to see the instruments we studied up close.  It was a treat to have Sohrab come.  Hope to have Sohrab come again to perform for us.
